What is Christian Classical Education?
A Classical education seeks to cultivate virtue, wisdom, and eloquence through the nourishment of what is good, true, and beautiful. Within our current moment in history, it is a return to the education that produced some of the greatest minds in human history. But to what end? Christianity provides the proper telos (end) for a Classical education with the understanding that all we do in life is ultimately meant to be for the Glory of God. Thus, the education we provide is Christ-centered and grounded in the fear of the Lord as the beginning of all knowledge and wisdom.
Who is Anselm?
St. Anselm was an Archbishop of Canterbury whose medieval life (c. 1033-1109 A.D.) and legacy has much to teach us in our day and age. He’s widely regarded as a true saint, scholar, and poet. Classically trained, he was a man of both humility and courage in the face of many great challenges, all while pointing to the joy found only in the Lord. He authored several influential works and also coined the phrase we use as our motto, “Faith Seeking Understanding”, which signifies an active love of God seeking a deeper knowledge of God. We pray our school will be used to raise up a new generation of saints, scholars, and poets who joyfully and courageously serve God and those around them.
